What Bruce Springsteen’s Crowd-Surfing Says About People Managing

There are always going to be moments in life that stand out, even if it’s not clear why at the time. For me, one such moment happened in 2016, when I saw Bruce Springsteen perform in Newark, New Jersey.

 

I’d heard stories of how electrifying it is to see a Springsteen concert in his home state. The crowd knew the lyrics to every song, even the most obscure. But the indelible moment was when The Boss threw himself into the crowd, and the attendees started passing him back to the stage as he continued singing “Hungry Heart.”

Eight years later, I still remember those few minutes and what they meant. As the co-founder of a company that advises fellow leaders about transforming and growing their own businesses, I began to see the correlation between Springsteen's actions and accomplishing great things at work.
